- The unseen photographs that throw new light on the First World War – Photographs of unknown soldiers from the first world war found in a barn in France. The Independent newspaper is now hoping to trace the families of these men who fought in the Somme. Their search is based on the hope that the original prints may have been sent home to families in Britain who will be able to identify their grandfathers and great uncles.
