Stories

story writingThe key to creating a digital story is good storytelling. Any number of digital processes can be engaged but without a story they are all worthless.

So I start every workshop with a storycircle. We play games with words, start to discover stories and look at how to structure them into working scripts.

The Magic Story Bag is a collection of everyday objects handed round to participants. They take one item each, at random and without looking. The objects prompt memories of past events. In ten minutes they write the story of that event. I always join in these games. It helps others to know that their tutor is willing to divulge memories of his own and to make himself as vulnerable as they feel.

I have kept most of these short scripts and I opened this blog as a place to publish them. Click on the Story Category to read them or here for the latest blog entries.
